COLDWATER, MI - Emergency crews responded to a messy scene on I-69 south of Coldwater this weekend.
After 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 12, crews responded to the scene of a semi-truck that reportedly exploded and caught on fire on I-69 by mile marker 10, near the weigh station. According to the Michigan State Patrol, the truck was hauling aerosol cans and paint.
To accommodate cleanup efforts, a portion I-69 is closed north of Coldwater in Branch County. The Michigan Department of Transportation is reporting that the southbound lanes of I-69 are closed after the Fenn Road exit.
As of 7:30 p.m., crews were still working to clean up the site so that the southbound lanes could be reopened.
The northbound lanes of I-69 are currently open to traffic but the Michigan State Patrol is advising drivers to find an alternate route, if possible.
No injuries were reported, said the state patrol. No further information is available at this time.
